WhatsApp now allows you to quote a message

Whatsapp, one of the most-used instant messaging app is trying to make the app more simpler by testing another nifty feature called ‘Quote and Reply’ or ‘Quick Quote’.

In a nutshell, it is the potential to refer to old messages.

Have you ever been in  situations when you are having a good conversation with someone and then you talk about something that the other person said a while ago? How do you remind them about that?

Or consider yourself wanting to reply to a specific message in the chat, but the topic of conversation has changed to something else.

With this new feature of WhatsApp you can easily select that message you want to reply to, add your reply under it and send it. Others will be able to see the previous message as well as your reply attached to the message.

To use this feature, all you have to do is tap and hold on to the message, a reply icon will appear in the toolbar. Tap on reply icon, type your reply message and hit send. That’s it.

And this is how it looks in the chat.

Moreover, if you tap the quoted message, WhatsApp will scroll up to that message.

This new feature will be most useful while chatting in a group chat conversation. Things can get muddled up very quickly in group chats and this type of feature will come quite in helpful in replying to specific messages.

WhatsApp has not made this feature available to all users, only those are have joined the beta program have received the update. There has been no word about when this update will roll out to other user. WhatsApp has also been testing some other features like making the text bold, italic, underline and strike-through, etc.
